The head cap is used to "float" the head across the material and thus allows the user to print on slightly curved surfaces.

The head cap is made of resin material and wears down as it is riding on the surface of the material.

Each head cap should be replaced when the groove ("triangle" shape) on the bottom of the head cap wears down (0.2mm).

Life of the head cap is approximately 1 cap per every 2 pins worn on the print head (under normal printing conditions).

Symptom that the head cap is worn would be scratching alebo ghosting on the material.

Failure to replace the head cap will lead to the pin being damaged.

When printed on flat material that are susceptible to scratching, customer can lock the head position and remove the head cap for printing.

Replacement head caps can only be used on the MPX-80 (click for details).
